Ancient Oak
Ancient Oak is an established neighborhood in Darnestown located along MD28 (blue area along Darnestown Road on this map). There are just under 300 single family homes here on large, leafy lots with mature trees. Over 90% of the homes were built between 1960 and 1979 and have a median living area of 2,500 square feet. Since 1980 about two dozen newer, custom homes have been built and are sprinkled within the neighborhood. All original homes were built with private well and septic systems. Since then, many home owners have connected to public water and sewer; however, many homes have private systems. Half of the homes are on lots between 0.5 and 1 acre, about 40% of the homes are on lots between 1 and 2 acres, and 10% have lots over 2 acres.
