Quince Orchard Knolls

Quince Orchard Knolls a large area in North Potomac of just under 550 homes along Darnestown Road and Quince Orchard Road (map).  This area is a collection of very distinct communities.

Located across from the Kentlands and built from 1990 to 1994, homes in Orchard Knolls have cedar shake roofs and traditional colonial architecture.  There are 83 single family homes here with an average living space of over 3,200 square feet on quarter acre lots.  67 luxury townhomes, many with garages, have an average living space of over 1,500 square feet.  The Orchard Knolls HOA Community Site is a great source of information about the community.  Quince Haven and Potomac Grove are close by and have a similar feel to Orchard Knolls.

Most homes in Quince Orchard Knolls were built from 1971 to 1978.  300 split-level, split-foyer and traditional colonial homes have an average living space of 1,800 square feet on 0.3 acre lots.  In the 1980s, 37 colonials were built on Peach Leaf and Quince Mill Drive.  These are larger with an average living space of over 2,800 square feet.

More recently, 30 traditional brick-front colonials were built on Damson Drive and Damson Terrace in the 1990s. These homes are larger with an average living space of nearly 3,500 square feet.  Bigger and newer still, Winchester Homes built 23 homes on Sheets Farm Road in 1999 and 2000.  These are on half acre lots and have 3,200 to over 5,000 square feet of living space.
